“Distant Light” programmed by NKK NXT 19/20
The 19/20 edition of NKK NXT, the talent development programme of the Dutch National Chamberchoir (Nederlands Kamerkoor) will be performing my piece “Distant Light” in an arrangement for female choir. “Distant Light” was written as a commissioned work for Ensemble Nieuwe Muziek in 2018, on text by Elea Bekkers inspired by illustrations by Paul van Gemen.

The last performance of Wayfare Concerto
Words cannot express how thankful I am for this past half year working on my own piece with an orchestra so close to my heart, the Utrechtsch Studenten Concert, led by a conductor, Bas Pollard, so uniquely inspiring. This has been a life-changing experience I will never forget. On to more great things!
Wayfare Concerto in Amsterdam and Utrecht

Wayfare Concerto on tour
I just came back from a tour with the USConcert. It has been one of the best 10 days of my life! Not only did I get to enjoy joining this orchestra on an international tour once again, this time it was extra special: it included the world première of my piece written especially for them: Wayfare Concerto. The tour took us to Graz (Austria), Zagreb and Split (Croatia). Every concert was met with a very enthusiastic audience and the orchestra gave everything they had. I couldn’t have wished for a better way to bring my newest piece into this world. The USConcert will perform the concerto two times more; once in Amsterdam (13th of June) and in Utrecht (15th of June). Check their website for further information.
NKK NXT 18/19 a big hit
From September 2018 until March 2019 I was part of NKK NXT, the talent development program of the Dutch Chamber Choir. We were tasked with one question: show the future of choral singing. And so we did. In these 6 months we came up with the performance “I want to be like you”.
The performance shows the interaction between singers and an artificial intelligence wanting to be human. In a series of simulations this AI tries to discover what it is to be human through the emotional act of singing.
During the project I was active as a singer, a composer, a concept developer and a graphics designer. Every passion of mine combined into one project. Keep an eye on my concerts page for possible further performances of NKK NXT 18/19.
Theaterkrant.nl wrote the following about the performances: “The result ‘I want to be like you’ is gripping, and extremely current, with special programming in a beautiful choreography in which form and substance melt together. But above all; it is breathtakingly beautiful. Phenomenal is an understatement.”
